The introduction of Radiosity came in 1984 from Cornell University in a paper titled "Modelling the Interaction of Light Between Diffuse Surfaces" written by Goral, Torrance & Greenberg.
The idea was to simulate energy (light) transference from diffuse surfaces.
Diffuse surfaces are surfaces that reflect light equally in all directions - the opposite of a shiny surface
